Here's the first of several messages I've received from Brian this week.
Text message: "I just remembered that we met a year ago tonight (yeah, yeah, I know Desario's). Just wanted you to know I hadn't forgotten. Just a happy thought from me to you."
Then a phone call at 10:30pm with no message.
Then another text message: "I finally paid off my car. $380. I'm crying on the inside."
And one more text message, sent this evening: "Are u not talking to me?"
Now, in my mind, I'd have to be spoken to in order for him to know whether I'm not talking to him or not. I'm simply not responding, since his calling without leaving a message is essentially hanging up before I could pick up the line, and his text messaging is only a virtual form of communication.
I think it'd be perfectly within breakup bounds to simply send his last message back verbatim, with slight and bitchy emphasis on the last word: "are u not talking to me?"
It's pissing me off to no end that someone who was such a wonderful boyfriend now can't rub two sticks together to make a fire, let alone a declarative statement or a phone call.
I've thought of lots of things to say to Brian, but none of them really feel like they'd help or satisfy me. So as much as I want to send back some witty and cutting message, I think silence is probably the best choice. If he wants to know if I'm not talking to him, he can simply give me a call and find out.
